Two evocative pieces are the musical focus for this day - one of Dvorak’s ever-popular Slavonic Dances, alongside Liz Sharma𔃷s colourful and imaginative music inspired by her love of nature and of music for wind instruments.

  • Nicholas Sims-Williams Serenade

An old favourite and a rarity here - Peter Warlock’s famous and much-loved Capriol Suite is re-created here in an excellent 10-wind version, alongside a delightful original work for the same combination by horn player Nicholas Sims-Williams.

The Mayfair Centre is conveniently located in the centre of Church Stretton, very close to cafés, restaurants, pubs, shops and the railway station. Tea and coffee will be provided for players during rehearsal breaks.

Exploring the area…

Church Stretton is an excellent base for explorations of one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of rural England. The town is located next to the Long Mynd and the Carding Mill Valley, offering excellent opportunities for walking in a beautiful landscape. Within easy driving distance are the towns of Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Bishop’s Castle and Montgomery, all with their own individual characters and interest. The Clee Hills and Stiperstones offer further walking opportunities, or you can visit the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution in Telford and Ironbridge.
